About Me,

My name is Yamen and I welcome you to the HCBP website and blog!


I am very passionate about the HC function, as I believe it's a key function and the backbone of any organisation that exists in today's business environment where competition is extremely strong and the war for talent is fiercer than it has ever been.


My aim is to make a difference by providing a platform for all people interested in the subject of HR -regardless of their current discipline, status or level within an organisation- where I can share my personal and work life experiences and facilitate the sharing of different experiences, insights and knowledge of as many HR professionals as possible, only one step at a time!


I currently reside in Dubai, UAE and speak Arabic (native), English (fluent), French (advanced) and Japanese (intermediate).


I am a Hospitality Mangement graduate and initially started my career at the Front Desk of Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates in Dubai, UAE. I held my first HR position as a Human Resources Administrator in the same hotel at the age of 23, and since then, I have climbed the ladder in HR to my current position as a Senior Consultant and Managing Director for HCBP Consultancy.

I have more than 13 years’ experience in the HR field, mainly with Majid Al Futtaim group of companies ( and possess a sound knowledge of international legislation and global HR practice. In the years leading to my current job, I have invested in learning more about the HR function by attending professional seminars, training and conferences locally and globally as well as getting certified as a Certified HR Manager (CHRM), a Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR), a SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) and a holder of The Leadership Circle Profile (LCP) certification; moreover, I am an active member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) in the US, the Association for Talent Development (ATD) in the US,  the American Psychological Association (APA) and the  Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) in Canada.

About The Blog,

The HCBP blog was founded with the purpose of facilitating the sharing of actual experiences that I've made and benefited from, as well as the wins I scored and how I achieved them.

As stated in the welcome note, this blog is not to be treated as an academic knowledge database, but rather a knowledge and experience repository and a compass to guide you through certain situations that you might encounter at the workplace.

All that's shared in the blog is strictly my personal take on the topics discussed unless clearly otherwise stated, therefore, if you would like to share anything you see here, I appreciate if you can credit the work back to this blog or the original content creator.


The Useful Links & References section has two parts as the name suggests:

  • Under the Web Links part, you'll find links to external useful and relevant websites and articles about labour laws, HR, leadership and business in general.

  • Under the Books part, you'll find different links to purchase both hard and soft copies of books that I have read and found useful throughout my career as well as any new good ones I come across. These are not sponsored links so I don't make any money out of them, therefore, feel free to go to your local bookshop and ask for these should you prefer to do so.

Make sure to check here regularly for new content.


Finally, it is important to note that while I'll do my best to update this blog as often as possible with new content,  I'm very busy as you can imagine and I will try my best to respond to comments as quickly as possible! I would, therefore, recommend that you sign up for updates so that you get notified whenever something new comes up.
